Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?

Ahhh, Whizzer. I'll finally get to enjoy it again on Monday and Tuesday, despite the Karate Kid car(s). How many of those does it have? Amen to the buy/make parts thing. I mean, we put people on the moon how many years ago? With today's technology we can certainly fabricate new parts for a roller co...

Re: Roller coasters go robotic

Hmmm... Isn't the new Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios Florida going to utilize something like the Kuka robot arm?

Re: Has your dog ridden the AMERICAN EAGLE?

Ha! This reminds me of a picture from a coaster book I read when I was younger. It might have been one of Todd Throgmorton's books. In any case, I recall that the photo showed an English sheep dog riding the double-looping Schwarzkopf coaster Shock Wave (also sometimes written as "Shockwave&quo...

Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?

I can understand that but it's still an amazing ride (and I'm sure you'll love it just as much) with how well it now fits into the terrain. Amen to that; it's a must-ride (and re-ride!) each time I visit. A true classic that Whizzer is, and I hope SFGAm realizes that and keeps it around for... ever...

Re: Kentucky Kingdom Is Closing...

When my family and I first visited SFGAm in 1987, I was only 7 years old. While I rode Demon and Whizzer, I did not ride any of the other coasters (American Eagle, Tidal Wave, and Z-Force). I can't remember if height or fear was my reason for not riding, but I had always regretted not riding Tidal W...

Wow! Very cool, indeed. There is so much to compare... there could easily be hundreds of photos and descriptions.

Interesting... I never knew that there was a difference between the first drops on the two Demons. Were the drops the same on TotC and then changed with the conversion to Demon?

Thanks for the info, pics, and links, Steven. It's a bit disheartening to know that most of these unique Schwarzkopf creations have been scrapped. :(

This page http://www.angelfire.com/oh4/tk173/demon.html tells about the sign. Basically, they ended up covering up the 'pipe' with a mound of dirt that rises to the DEMON letters.

Just a suggestion... if we're going to include Big Top/Richochet on the list, then we should probably also include Saskatchewan Scrambler/Hometown Fun Machine, Orleans Orbit/Orbit, Turn of the Century/Demon, and Lobster/East River Crawler. On the other hand, we might consider removing from the list ...

$7 doesn't seem too bad for 1996.
