Great Article

I emailed the columnist from the Merc a few weeks back about doing a story on Larry for his weekly column. I was surprised when Mike Cassidy contacted me right away. He spent a lot of time with Larry and came back to me saying that it would be great piece to run in the paper. I couldn’t agree more. ...

Oh I'd be afraid to stand on top of Sky Trek Tower. That is, unless I had a parachute! And make sure the park is empty so I could have plenty of landing space. These photos are great! This would certainly bring back memories for me if I were in one of those snapshots as an employee. But it's too ba...

David, I am 40 years old, 6' 193 lbs. Not bad for not seeing a picture of me. JW One of the greatest things about being Alfredo was after a while you learned to use that kind of creativity to guess "other stuff". I remember when a guest would reach into his/her bag or purse (to get the do...

Larry the Area Host...

Last week I was having lunch at the local Burger King and I saw a face that I had not seen in years. It was Larry, an Area Host that I remembered working with back in 1983. If you recall, an Area Host was a glorified name for the park sweepers that kept MGA beautiful and shinning. Larry was an easy ...

Alfredo Prize

The most popular prizes was a colored MGA visor. It said, "I beat the Amazing Alfredo".

I wish I had one of those visors today.

I was the Amazing Alfredo!

I worked as the Amazing Alfredo in the summer 1983 at the Santa Clara MGA. MGA did have two Alfredo's. One in the County Fair and the other in Orleans Place. Alfredo was actually called Alfreduex in OP. On a busy day, over 500 guests would pony up a buck (it's now two dollars) to have me guess eithe...

Burgers on the Run?

It was next to the Tidal Wave and had a big clock out front with the Road Runner's legs as the clock hands. It was closed for several years and sat there empy.

Dont' get me started on how PGA has ruined the theming.

Seems like every year they take out more and more of the history of the park. I still remember going to the park a few years back and seeing a giant asphalt hole in the ground where the train station used to be. I mean come on....an amusement park with out a train?!? Same goes with the SkyWhirl...I ...

Yahoo!

Great website Steven! Good to see you too Dean. We worked together back in 1983 and had a blast. You were the magician at the Theater Royal and did a great show at the employee night. It was some great times back then!

Today, my job at MGA was still the best ever!!!!
