The Carousel Song returns to Santa Clara

I have been going to Santa Clara a few times per year for the past five seasons. My home park is Gurnee, and I nearly tripped when hearing this in the song rotation in Carousel Plaza ("Celebration Plaza," ugh) in Santa Clara on Opening Day this year. I could have sworn I was in Gurnee, sin...

Re: Good Bye Home Town Square

Marcos (above) says that at mid-Winter no-coaster con, SFGA claimed that the changes to Hometown Square would all be 'reversible'. I noticed that about 8 to 10 mature (approx 40 years old) Crimson Maple trees were cut-down to make way for IGNITE....... that does not seem reversible. I guess I didn'...

Re: Good Bye Home Town Square

Can they fix Yukon Territory and get rid of that awful go-kart thing? They ruined that area. Agreed! I have received several park surveys since the gutting and removal of Bugs Bunny/Looney Tunes National Park before the 2011 season. I complain about that eyesore (and "earsore") every time...

Re: Major Fail for SFGA Food Ops

Having worked for the big M years later, I have to agree. I had lunch at Angelo's (Captain Morgan's) in Yankee Harbor on Opening Day, and they ran out of Italian bread, a side that comes with all pasta entrees...and they didn't get any more the entire time I was there, despite a replenishment reques...

Re: Scream and Dreams 3...Enough is Enough

I agree! The whole "movie" seemed more like loosely related YouTube clips in a playlist. When they started giving testimonials of how great Buccaneer Battle is, it was at that point I felt like I was watching a commercial/infomercial, and not a movie. That ride is usually empty unless it's...

Re: Good Bye Home Town Square

The park management/staff stated in January at No Coaster Con that all changes to Hometown Square are reversible, whenever igNight has run its course. They also claimed to be passionate about park preservation...so, we'll see. The changes were necessary due to pyrotechnics and other special effects ...

Re: A Little More Marriott Era Gone from Gurnee

Yeah, this was depressing for me as well. You'd think they could have at least sold off parts of it to enthusiasts. Oh, well. At least the new metal detector entrance has some class to it, unlike Six Flags St. Louis, which is a tarp/tent. No, it's not nearly as intricate as the original ticket booth...

Re: Whizzer to become ACE Landmark today

Last Sunday, I snapped a few pix of the plaque; it's very large and descriptive. Unfortunately, "Marriott's" is spelled incorrectly the first time. :( "Marriott" or "Marriott's" is on the plaque four times, so I guess three out of four ain't bad. Still, I wish they woul...

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

The projector in the Pictorium cannot be considered an IMAX one, it's definitely a digital one. You can obviously tell by the picture quality. No doubt! The more stories I hear, the more I believe the IMAX equipment is gone forever, meaning it will be impossible to show anything other than standard...

Re: X flight. what did you think about it?

Before all the media hype a few weeks ago, I had modest expectations. After all the media hype and initial reviews, I had high expectations. The truth was right in the middle of my two expectations. :) Seriously. It's a very good, unique, and somewhat forceful ride. Is it the best thing out there? N...

2012 Opening Weekend Trip Report - Gurnee

Saturday-Sunday, May 5-6, 2012 I arrived via Washington Street at 9:28 AM. The (alternate) parking lot entrance was starting to get a little backed up…maybe 8 cars deep and not really moving. A couple minutes later, they opened a second lane, and I was soon on my way. I got a primo parking spot up f...

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

^ That is the original version narrated by Dameon Nelson, the park's Director of Operations. The narration was later redone by the woman who does the recorded park announcements. Good to know, thanks! I must have seen the film close to ten times over the season, usually because I was with someone t...

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

So I understand someone got sent a DVD copy of this (ahem), are they going to sell them? If not, are we going to see it posted? :P --Guy Back in the late spring, I was told unofficially by the Pictorium lead that it would be available for purchase on DVD, possibly by Fright Fest. Obviously, that di...
