Re: 2012 Opening Weekend Trip Report - Gurnee

Regarding Demon's station, the entire roof and most of the walls were completely rebuilt this spring. It appears to be finished now, but on opening day, there was still a lot of work to do.

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

^ That is the original version narrated by Dameon Nelson, the park's Director of Operations. The narration was later redone by the woman who does the recorded park announcements.

Re: Another Couple of Marriott Buildings Torn Down

Farmer's Market is the original name. It has now been given the extremely bland name of "County Fair Food Court". As for Games Gallery, although a small part of me doesn't like the building being altered, I do think that area has been way too cluttered since Revolution was put in.

Re: Another Couple of Marriott Buildings Torn Down

Neither of those buildings are being removed. All that was removed was the four "island" games sticking out from the main Games Gallery building. Farmer's Market is having cosmetic work done on the right side of the building, and having a large shade structure constructed over the main eat...

I'm fairly confident that Great America will be around for many seasons to come. What I have doubts about is whether or not it will remain a Six Flags park. Six Flags is (and has for some time now) in a very bad situation and I doubt the sale of just the small parks will be enough once SF becomes un...

^ Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure, at least at SFGAm, that neither flume still has wooden catwalks.

^ Could consider it. Don't forget though that Cedar Fair isn't in the best position to be buying parks either since they just bought the entire Paramount Parks chain 2 years ago. On top of that, this economy isn't good for anyone.

SFGAm will definitely be owned by SF until the very end. The worry here is what would happen to SFGAm if SF went completely belly-up.

^ Don't know what you saw, but I would highly doubt what was then a 2 year old ride would have been allowed to sit in a parking lot rusting for 31 years.

Nope, no supports yet. The construction schedule is foundations / concrete in January, the building will go up in February, and the ride will be built in March.
