Re: Park Music: New Location!

Everything but Southwest came out when the park opened in 1976. I assume Southwest was recorded in the 90s when the section opened, but I don't know for sure. Since the section had been planned all along-- who knows???

Re: Good Bye Home Town Square

Can they fix Yukon Territory and get rid of that awful go-kart thing? They ruined that area.

Re: Marriots Show costumes live on!

Thanks for this great story! Good to know those costumes are still being used in some way.

Love the picture too -- I remember dancing with Daffy Duck in the plaza with the marching band playing, just like this photo shows. That was probably 1977 or 1978.

Re: California Great America is SOLD to JMA

I just read on the CGA Wikipedia page that the JMA deal was cancelled, and that Cedar Fair entered into an agreement with the 49ers to build their stadium near the park. Does anyone have more information on this, or can anyone confirm if this is true? Here's a copy-and-paste from Wiki: December 6, 2...

First time in 10 years! Back to SFGA!

I went back to SFGAm today for the first time in nearly 10 years. It was the first day of Fright Fest, and it was really chilly-- but I managed to get on every operating coaster. It was SO much fun. Here's a few photos from my visit. I didn't take as many as I had hoped, and I missed a lot. But... i...

American Eagle Construction Photos in COLOR

Just found this blog that posted color photos of the American Eagle construction. I've seen many of these before, but never in color like this.

The blog author says they got them directly from Six Flags Great America.

Regardless of where it goes, it looks like a really cool new addition to the park. First BIG coaster in a long time! Very good news!

SFGAM Alumni Facebook Group

Hi all - I posted this in the June 2011 Reunion topic, but figured it merited a topic of its own. A SFGAM Alums group was started on Facebook recently by Mike Foerster, former VP of Finance for SFGAM who worked at the park from the early Marriott days until about 8-10 years ago. The group currently ...

Re: Great America Alumni Day - June 26, 2011

I don't think that SFGA Alumni group existed when the June Alumni Day was being planned. That group was created by Mike Foerster, former VP of Finance for SFGA, and has a lot of former full-time staff and management from the Marriott days onward. They are having a reunion on September 10th in Kenosh...

Re: Iron Wolf to be removed for sure.

Farewell to Iron Wolf, but I never really cared for it. No other ride in the park caused me as much pain as that one. Between getting my ears boxed by the shoulder harnesses and the, um, uncomfortable feeling after sitting on the seat... it just wasn't fun anymore. Hopefully it gets replaced with so...

Park Music: New Location!

Hi everyone - After FAR too long after they were taken down, here are the park songs again for download. http://rcktman.com/marriotts-great-america-soundtrack/ A few of the clips are missing because I had a number of situations where I had to restore all of my music files over the last few years, an...

Re: 1982 - ATARI VIDEO ADVENTURE

I just came across this randomly on the 'net, and wondered if there was a post about it. Was this in the building where Cafe LeGrand/Spaghetti Levee/Bourbon Street Cafe was in Gurnee? I recall when I visited the Santa Clara park in 1990 this building was being used as an arcade then. Love the concep...
