Re: Great America History - Original Concepts

Odd that Marriott never considered building a park in their own backyard: Salt Lake City. That is odd, since Salt Lake CIty is a fascinating place with the mountains in the background overlooking the huge body of water. But with Lagoon sitting in nearby Farmington, who needs another major theme par...

Re: Park Music: New Location!

Southwest Territory's soundtrack came from a handful of compilation albums that consisted of guitars, mandolins, and banjos. A few tracks came from this obscure artist Jim Hendricks, a couple from a soundtrack called The Way West, a couple from an album called The Greatest Western Themes (K-Tel), an...

Re: Park Music for downloading!

I have an old recording of the Yankee Harbor soundtrack minus three songs, which I meant to record last year or this year. I'll send them to you.

The projector in the Pictorium cannot be considered an IMAX one, it's definitely a digital one. You can obviously tell by the picture quality.

Re: Park Music: New Location!

After my first visit to the former Marriott's park this year, I have to say they have improved the soundtracks somewhat, and the sound quality is a lot better than it was last year. The only thing is they could do away with the commercials which spoil the theme. But it's still a lot better than the ...

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

I saw the video a week ago. I enjoyed it. It gives out some history of the first few years of the park in operation. And as for "Mame", come on, it is a classic Orleans Place song from the Marriott era. The soundtracks are what made Great America Great America. So glad to have them back de...

THAT! is one of my favorite pieces in the park! Hope Six Flags would allow fans to download this masterpiece. It's a medley with famous Looney Tunes pieces squeezed inside of it including "What's Up, Doc", "Hungarian Rhapsody", "Road Runner's Theme", and of course, &quo...

Play it again, Sam! I never considered B-96 or Kiss-FM family friendly at all, and they play the same dross every hour.

DITTO! How intensely STUPID is it for someone to deliberately put salt in someone's drink so they can stay thirsty and shell out more cash? Those bozos probably did it for profits.

Aside from Orleans and V2, the original soundtracks are all but gone! I hope they come back somehow. The park isn't the same without them whether people like it or not. As for the Geico and Army ads played throughout the park -- get rid of them now! They really get on my nerves. Geico is getting a n...

I'm guessing that the official platter for GA is the Flags' Famous Chicken Strips. That's what we call it in Gurnee. They have it at almost every food unit and we sell that stuff like crazy! But I do miss some of the food the park USED to have which was better. The seasoned fries are all but gone, a...

Here comes a new ride on the list:

We're all gonna miss Trailblazer now that that's removed from the park.

Thank goodness Triple Play isn't gonna be added to the list anytime soon because they just re-assembled it after a stint last season.

Re: Sounds of Great America

Another great topic to chat about...what are some of the sounds that you remember at Marriott's Great America? * I still can hear the Wizzard slowly clicking up the track. It's definitely a favorite Hometown Square sound at Six Flags! * The electric sounds of the dodge cars on the Rue Le Dodge * Th...

I have to agree that in the earlier days Great America used to have much better food back in the Marriott days. And everything was much cheaper. In my earlier years at the park, people used to ask me all the time where the fried ice cream and elephant ears were and I had no idea. It was too sad the ...
