Re: Employee cafeteria

OK, I just recalled one of the most notorious things about the Employee Cafeteria - The telephone. That thing would ring ALL THE DAMN TIME! And some supervisor would run up and answer it and yell out "JILL FROM TIDAL WAVE!" "BOBBY FROM DEMON!" "TIM FROM CAROUSEL!" - it was always a rides person bei...

Thoughts On Management

I was wondering what the Santa Clara folks think about the park now that you've been under Cedar Fair management for a couple of years now. Are you seeing changes in the park you like? I have always admired Cedar Point, back in my ride op day all my friends used to think of us working in AAA and Ced...

Re: another 1983 Marriott's GREAT AMERICA commercial added

Thanks for posting, great stuff. Have you tried to get any of these on YouTube or Vimeo? I have a lot of SFGA friends on Facebook it would be great if the videos were inline when I shared them.

Thanks again!

Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?

It's really too bad that SF management continues to let the crown jewel whither. SFGA is money in the bank for them every year and they seem more intent on squeezing every cent out of it than making it better. Picto was always a great venue and with the 3D craze going on I remember the first 3D film...

Re: Bloomberg - Six Flags Management Out?

Guess this news is a few days old and just missed it, this is unfortunate I think, Shapiro seemed to have things going in the right direction and just lacked the capital to do everything required. Coming out of bankruptcy would have provided that opportunity, appears there was likely a falling out b...

Bloomberg - Six Flags Management Out?

Got this from Bloomberg via The Daily Herald today: Six Flags Incumbent Management May Be on the Way Out Incumbent management of Six Flags Inc. evidently will lose their jobs if holding company noteholders succeed in taking over the theme-park operator by winning confirmation of their competing reo...

Also the loudest ride in the park - in Yukon Territory, cant remember the name, but rather tame , but owuld go aorund on an incline at high speeds. That would be the Yukon Yahoo!! Later became the Delta Flyer for a short time, I was lucky enough to run it the last year before they replaced it with ...

I believe it was the Great America Recording Studio and I believe I have a cassette of my friends and I doing Biz Markie's "Just A Friend" somewhere. Oh my, I'm going to have to go look for that now.

So I have to ask -- how exactly did they go about training you guys? Did they have you shadow a shift, run the ride before the park opened, etc. Just curious -- it's something I never really thought about. I always wanted to work at the park during the summers, but I lived way too far away to make ...

I guess it really depends on what's on the video... The vast majority of people on I294 will probably drive down the road enough so that they won't be distracted. However someone on a cell phone who is also looking at the sign might be a problem  I don't think anyone on I-294 will be distrac...

That building was the mechanical room for Power Dive when I was there. I don't know if it served as The Edge's mechanical room or not.

Oh, and by far my proudest punch -- controls on Rapids. Very tough position and many people assigned to that crew never got controls certification. I was proud I got mine even though I was never permanently assigned to that crew.
