What happened to all of that swamp by AE's helix? Dried up! Actually, I'm not sure what ever happened to it, but I think it was a "man made" lake, and I think over time, they never put the water back in it. A little bit OT for the thread, but I know that is the reason that the local...

It was. Its just that the yellow had faded a bit that year, so it had an off-white look to it!

HoneyBunny, Try the site again. The machine that its running on is a bit on the "older" side....Dual P-133 with 512 MB of Ram from like 1997. So, sometimes it just "locks up" had I have to power it off and back on again. I'm in the process of finding a "newer" machine t...

Correct. Hurrican Harbor is getting a Tornardo Slide. As far as the main theme park, nothing was said about new attractions.

The other model that I know the park has (well, they had it back in 1999) is posted on this site at the following link (see pic # 1-5) http://www.greatamericaparks.com/sg/history/model/ The park held an "Employee Alumi Day" at the beginning of the 1999 Season. During the picnic lunch held ...

Anyone remember this? August, 1979 they had some sort of a radio-sponsered Country music thing. I was there under a large tent, pictures of the Oak Ridge Boys in a concert. I seem to remember that tent/stage area. I may not be correct, but seems to me that is what ended up being the entrance to Ame...

Jeff, While I have asked them many times about that, I never did get a 100% confirmation from the park that they would display the Eagle Model this season. The impression I got was that they were going to look into it, so hopefully that means they will do it. If and when I get more information, I wi...

Yes, all the cabins at the Gurnee park were scrapped between the 2004 and 2005 season, except for the 4 that the park had out during Fright Fest (the ones painted Green, that were over in Hometown Square). Hopefully, they will at least keep those. Even if they use them the way they did, it at least ...

That's a Monday. They'll probably wait until June 14 or 21 for Coasters After Dark. While the parks "track record" for doing special events on their actual anniversary date is not the best May 29, 1996: 20th Anniversary -- Nothing May 29, 2001: 25th Anniversary -- Nothing May 29, 2006: 30...

30th Anniversary Logo for Great America, Gurnee, IL

Everyone, Sorry for the poor quality of the picture, but this was shown on a video screen yesterday at ACE's No Coaster Convention. http://CPE-65-29-35-94.wi.res.rr.com:2711/jcpics/brian/MGAParksPhotos/30YearLogo.jpg As far as what Gurnee is planning on doing on May 29, 2006? All they would say is t...

Everyone, At ACE's No Coaster Con event yesterday, Six Flags Great America was able to get a hold of a sign from the Texas Cyclone, which will be donated to the ACE muesume. Below is a picture of the sign http://CPE-65-29-35-94.wi.res.rr.com:2711/jcpics/brian/MGAParksPhotos/AstroworldCyclone.jpg

I have also wanted to have one of these as well. But again, the sheer size of the cabin is what you don't think of right away. When Great America in Gurnee, IL had 4 of them out for Fright Fest, it allowed me and my friends to get a good look at them again. This also allowed us to again remember how...

Many great pictures indeed Steven. By the way, you can tell when that picture was taken on top of Sky Treck Tower. If you look Reed and Jeff, you can see the lift hill of the American Eagle. But, if you look to the right of Jerry, there is no helix. So, this is during the building of the American Ea...

Sorry about that. Photo should now work. The problem I run into is that with me hosting the pictures myself, I need to post them with both URL's at first (Internal to my LAN, and then the one that everyone else will see). Problem is, if I don't VPN into my Company's network to test the external link...
