Yes, I find it a little disappointing, too. Isn't that kind of strange that Disney's Wiggles are going to be with Warner Brothers characters? It's bad enough that Great America added Hanna-Barbera characters years ago. Unfortunately, I guess, Six Flags is there to make money. If this is the way they...

I agree that the new sign is not as eye-friendly as the last one. I guess the company has to show the name Six Flags more predomiently than the name of the theme park. Unfortunately us old timers will never forget how nice life used to be in the 70's and 80's ;) Let's just hope that the park stays w...

Hey Brian, I saw all of the items in your pics on Saturday, but I would have never known that the car was from the Hay Bailer! The cabins used from the Sky Whirl were used quite interesting. Even though the rides are gone, it is funny how us 'old timers' know the props that are used. Too bad this ge...

They still put 'great' in Great America!
I had the opportunity to go to Fight Fest at SFGAm on Saturday, October 14th. This was my first time at the park in three years! I was certainly surprised that I had one of the best times I ever had at the park! Even though the weather was a little cold, my sister-in-law and I had a good time. I was...

Suggest a new themed territory!
What would happen if the Six Flags corporation would ever expand and design a new territory for Great America? What would you suggest as part of the theme or name that would fit in the park? Personally, I think a theme of the Great Lakes area or the West Coast could be interesting. How about a Hawai...

Thanks, Steven, i knew you would be the prime source for this information!!! I must say that the plaque wording is absolutely fitting for the Marriott era in the parks. It really proved what a special place Great America was and how carefully planned the theme park came to be! As I said, I remember ...

Kings Entertainment Sign at Columbia Carousel This sign was placed at the foot of the reflection pool when Kings E...

No, not that one. It was nice to reread that sign about the Carousel. I am interested in the plaque that is in front of the reflecting pool just as you enter the entrance gates. There is a pic in the photo album, but it is illegible. I believe Gurnee still has one, I do not know about Santa Clara. T...

Plaque in front of reflecting pool
Can anyone tell me what the plaque in front of the reflecting pool of the Columbia actually said when Marriot owned the parks? Are they different 30 years later? Does anyone have a more legible picture of them? I do not think I ever stopped to read the plaque, but would like to know what it said/say...

stationery scans attached!
The souvenir stationery scans are in the photo section. Thanks Steven for helping me with my mission! This souvenir stationery was purchased at Gurnee in 1982 or 83. There were 24 assorted pages (4 of each themed Marriot area) and the price was $1.50. The sheets measure 5 1/2'' x 9''. Notice that ma...
