The Grizzly opened post-Marriott and was influenced by the Grizzly in Kings Dominion which was owned by the same company that managed the Santa Clara park.

Un-Built Rides and Attractions

During the Marriott era, where there any rides and attractions that were planned but never realized at either park? In other words attractions specifically designed and planned by Marriott. I always thought the Santa Clara park received the short end of the stick with most of the land for future dev...

Segerken,

Thanks for the clarification. It does makes sense. I do remember them mentioning it happened coming out of the corkscrew element. I always assumed it was the hills because they were the most intense part of the Turn of the Century.

I remember the nachos there. I think it was part of the taco stand. I usually went to Farmer's Market with a group of friends and we always split up to get something suited to our own tastes and meet back at a table. In addition we each found our way to Andre's French Fries to pick up a large cup of...

I'm pretty sure it did too. I also remember Captain Morgan's Seafood being renamed Harbor Inn and Dockside Grill became Foghorn's Fries later.

Probably, but unlike most food courts, these stands sold only 1-3 items each. I remember a: taco stand Coke stand (softs drinks only) sub shop (sold only one type of sandwich by the inch) Fries Shop (sold only french fries) fruit & vegetable stand The others I don't remember. I used to eat there...

Here's a list of the shops outlets on my opening year Santa Clara MGA map which I just found . I left off the games even though some might consider it an extension of merchandise. Orleans Place: Mardi Gras Emporium Penny P. Patrick's Praline Parlour Maison le Crystal Lafitte's Treasures Merry Manage...

Here's a list of the food outlets I remember in the first year at Santa Clara. There might be a few mistakes from this list, but it's combined from what I remember and what I have in documents. I have the first month brochure they handed out at the entrance gate with the same information you have. O...

There's only two left in California that I know of; the Delta Flyer/Eagles Flight at Great America and Sky Glider in Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Both Six Flags Magic Mountain and Disneyland removed their sky rides a while back.

I'm surprised the one in PGA is still standing.

Hi Steven, I love your site and noticed it's grown quite a bit lately. I'm glad to see you've added this forum. How about filling in the names of all the shops, stores, attractions, etc. that existed in the Marriott era regardless if you have photos. You could always add them later. That way we coul...

Turn of the Century - Demon make-over

Does anyone know why the Turn of the Century was made over into the Demon? I remember in the local news media (San Jose) how the Turn of the Century had breakdowns and stranded riders for hours. The front wheels would come loose and stop. This happened twice during it's short span of existence. Shor...

Original Flat Rides

What where the original flat rides at Gurnee? In Santa Clara I remember: The Triple Play (gone) Bottoms Up (gone) Hilltopper (gone, was near Turn of the Century entrance) Fiddler's Fling (name changed to Centrifuge) Yukon Yahoo (gone) Saskatchewan Scrambler (moved near Demon entrance and renamed Ind...

I remember it was near the south end of the park near the Barney Oldfield Speedway. The hotel was a lot smaller back then.
