Re: Salt in Drinks

The Coca Cola company does let anyone mess with their products. To add salt would mean Coke might pull their products. It happens to restaurants all the time. Vendors can adjust the water/syrup ratio and amount of ice in drinks to boost profit per drink. The syrup ratio as SFGA is quite low. LInes s...

Re: MGA attention-to-detail...Service Access Road...early ye

Thanks goodness that some of the employee bathrooms have AC. Wish they would be kept stocked with soap and paper towels. Outdoor break areas for employees are now just a collectio of broken benches and wobbly picnic tables pulled out of the food court. One area has those old benches from Yukon Terri...

Re: How is the Gurnee park these days?

Looks like Gurnee could have used the new roller coaster to attract attention. According to Crain's Chicago, attendance was 2,509,000 (down 6%) and revenue was $912,900,000 (down a full 10%).

Re: How is the Gurnee park these days?

The park has certainly had its ups and down. Luckily, the past few years have put the park on the upswing. Codes of behavior and dress are strictly enforced to return the park to be more family friendly park. Smoking is limited to a few out of the way areas as are the adult beverages. Still, the par...

Re: Thoughts On Management

You hit the nail right on the head Six Flags has little, if any, preventive maintenance. And, rides are rarely, if ever, cleaned. Harnesses on roller coasters are filthy. Columbia has lots of peeling paint and broken horses. I think there have been more personnel cut backs this year...that makes mor...

Re: MGA attention-to-detail...Service Access Road...early ye

It would kill you to see the horrid conditions of the backstage area under the Six Flags watch. Weeds everywhere. They never cut what is left of the grass. Broken picnic tables. Trees and shrubs left untrimmed...or dead. The walkway lines have been worn away. Peeling paint. Rusting building. You thi...

Re: SFGA plans new roller coaster ride

As of July 10, 2010, SFGA has abandoned a plan for building a next-generation roller coaster in the park. SFGA withdrew its petition to build a 150-foot high roller coaster at an area in the front of the park once occupied by the space shuttle and go kart track. Documents filed with the village of G...

Roller coaster cancelled

According to a report published in the July 10 edition of the Daily Herald, SFGA has abandoned, at least for now, putting a new roller coaster in the park. SFGA was at the last step in the process to get permission from the village of Gurnee to build a 150-foot high roller coaster near the main entr...

Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?

My Vote would be to put Chang in County Fair. Splashwater falls is already gone (no loss there). The Great America raceway has a lousy track layout are really could be easily reconfiquired in the same spot or maybe even somewhere else. To get the additional space needed for Chang. I would rip out t...

Re: 1978 MGA Model on public display!!!!

I wonder were it was stored for 30 years! The thing is huge. I am surprised 6 flags would give up so much retail space. I think this massive dispaly was part of a touring mall show that traveled around Milwaukee, Illinois and Indiana to promote the grand opening of the park in 1976. Southwest Territ...

Re: Employee cafeteria

Don't forget the break areas along the service corridor. Soda and snack machines. Ceilings fans, picnic tables and bathroom. Some departments would let you store your lunch in the area's dock box so you didn't have to go all the way to the locker rooms. Sometimes the trek to the Cartoon Cafe is too ...

Wow, the Columbia looks like it has a fantastic paint job. Six Flags take note. The Gurnee version is looking a little ragged around the edges.

Re: Another Couple of Marriott Buildings Torn Down

The Farmer's Market names was changed because today's teen did not understand what the area was for. Some people thought you could purchase vegetables and flowers. So, the "vanilla" name FOOD COURT was added to attract people to the area.
