They were called Fright Night in Santa Clara. Seeing that I was always working, I never went around the park during the event. I remember each work unit was able to pick a theme that they decorated their area and dressed to. I don't remember anything like the above photos of Gurnee.

That sounded interesting Mark, so I went hunting for a picture of it.

Here is a drawing:

I visited the park while the park was being set up for filming (they may have started some filming) and have some home video. They brought in several kiddie rides and placed them in the County Fair area. And the shot I have of the Sky Whirl shows there is one cage hanging loose. Didn't see any actua...

My family's personal opinion was that they liked Frontier Village much more, so my parents and grandparents took us there all the time. I only remember actually going to Great America once with my family before I started working there in '82. Plus, we did go to Disneyland and/or Knott's Berry Farm e...

I remember all those roads around SC filled with cars for the fireworks. The year I worked the parking tolls, our boss had the great idea of selling parking tickets and filling the lot bumper to bumper just for the fireworks. I don't think it was the brightest idea in the world.

I do remember a 4th of July weekend where I sat on the floor of a ticket both and counted and dropped nothing but twentys for more than an hour straight. I'd say it was extremely busy. This was probably back in '84.

Demon coin

Getting ready for a garage sale last week, my son found this along with a Knott's Berry Farm coin and a couple of smashed pennies from Frontier Village.

FunnelCake, It's hard to put into words. I think it was more a feeling of loss (like the death of a close friend). Nothing changed immediately. It wasn't like the next day all new managers came in or anything like that. I can't remember enough to tell you what little changes did take effect immediat...
