Yankee Clipper is a nice rank. I always enjoyed working on that ride- climbed all over it many times. The view from the lift was great!

Now if you gave a ranking for long-winded posts, I could make Tidal Wave. . . or something higher . . .

The Grand Opening pewter plate is back (one of these was on ebay not long ago) . As of today, the bidding stands at $5.56. I've been hanging on to my Grand Opening pewter plate, wondering if it will ever be worth anything . . . Now here's proof it's worth keeping for sentimental reasons only; it's ...

Re: Pictorium Shows 1979 - 1996 (Gurnee)

In another thread, someone asked what the lineup of shows were in the Pictorium from when it opened. Here is what I have on hand from my (borrowed) 1996 SFGA Fact Book: 1979-1980: To Fly 1981-1982: American Adventure 1983-1984: Behold Hawaii 1985-1986: Speed  <<NIT-PIC ALERT>> <<NIT-...

How often did the foghorn leghorn show play? Were their like 15 minute sets and 10 minute intermission periods or was it just continuous? Once again, the spiderwebs in my skull are getting in the way. I don't remember what the show intervals were, but I do know it wasn't continuous. The show lasted...

Two new Demon pics in my photo gallery- and these are two that some people will be shaking their heads about . . . When the TOC was converted into the Demon, a new hill and railroad tunnel was created under the first lift. They did this by piling up dirt around the coaster's structure. Unfortunately...

Picto Pics!

. . . I also want to also comment on the other additions to your photo gallery. The pictures of the Pictorum are really great! I've always wanted to see what the projector looked like, so thanks for sharing! :) Glad you like the pictures, Brian. It seems I take it for granted that everyone has seen...

White Water Rampage construction

Well, I've finally found time to scan and post some pictures of the Rampage's construction. They're in a new folder in my gallery. I tried to pick the most interesting shots, showing different views and stages of construction; these are around 25% of my collection for this ride. Several images are m...

The Characters and Show Wardrobe folks (Gurnee 1984-1987) were nuts! Jo Michaels, Gretta Star, Vicki Cooke, Wenders, Rob Proce, John Foos, Javier Rivera . . . the list just goes on! Fun times with top-notch people! . . . Going back a little further (1982-1983).... You must have been aroun...

Re: Thanks

So, can anyone tell me what my handle, "Signal 6" means? As I recall, "Signal 6" was the radio code for a ride being back up and running after a "Signal 2", which was the code for a shutdown. My favorite recurring radio call was "Signal 2, Cajun Cliffhanger, guest...

I wish I had thought of it last week when I was there . . . it didn't occur for me to take a picture of it. Do you know how many times I've kicked myself for not taking pictures when I had the chance?? :( The things I witnessed all those years ago, they'll never be seen again. I lived near the Gurnee park. When it opened, . . . The drive was through the countryside in those days, all farms and stop signs instead of today's subdivisions, shopping centers and traffic lights! . . . I lived in Round Lake, 11 miles from my door to the employee parking lot. Back then, there wa...
