Southwest

I think Six Flags Great America in Gurnee didn't get a Southern theme area until Southwest Territory was built in the late 1990's.

Yu-Kon-Do-It

Regarding Gurnee Great America: When Six Flags took over the Gurnee Great America in 1984, did it rename the Roy Rogers restaurant there back to its original Yu-Kon-Do-It name?

Gurnee in Winter

If Six Flags kept its theme parks open until Christmas time - in the style of Fright Fest they would call it Holiday Fest.

Are you familiar with these other Six Flags owned theme parks besides the Gurnee, IL. I think the Great America Park forums are a hit!

Maybe I can find forum posters who sign up to use this forum who live in the state of California (home to the Great America park - first Marriott's, now Paramount's - in Santa Clara).

Heat waves

Has Marriott's Great America (Gurnee/Santa Clara) ever handled heat waves to visitors to the theme park? Lucky the Six Flags Great America in Gurnee opened this year the Hurricane Harbor water park next door for people who want to cool off on hot days by swimming and enjoying the waterpark.

The Yu-Kon-Do-It sandwich shop in Yukon Territory later became Roy Rogers, I guess.

more on walkarounds

Even in the 1990's after Six Flags took over the Gurnee Great America, there were walkarounds of Tiny Toon Adventures characters (Buster Bunny, Babs Bunny, Plucky Duck, Hamton, Dizzy Devil) and Animaniacs characters (Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Pinky, and the Brain) added to the park, I think.

Was the Farmer's Market in the Marriott's Great America parks the concept of what shopping mall food courts would be like?

Did you know...

Did you know the person who said in the opening of the first 1976-1977 Marriott's Great America TV commercials ("America, it's a family country.") is the late Danny Dark, one time a St. Louis disc jockey who also did in the 1980's many NBC and ABC network promos and was the voice of Superm...
