Video of Santa Clara's Tidal Wave / Greased Lightnin'

Post by steven »

Hi,

To view the video, please right click and save on the following link:

Tidal Wave / Greased Lightnin' video.

It's a Windows Media file, about 20 MB in size.

This is from some of the photos and video that I took for the ride's 25th anniversary documentary. At the time, we did not know that it would also be the coaster's final season. Therefore, it turned out to also be a tribute.

I hope you enjoy the video. Please post your reviews!

The video is pretty cool. I especially like it because it was the first time Ive seen a shuttle loop in action.

GAH!!! I wish it was still there!!!
Now I'm anxious to get to Walibi Belgium to ride the Turbine, since it's the only park I am traveling close enough to vist that has Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop!!! and it isn't even the same model...
Anyways, Thank for posting the video Steven!

Did the park stop Delta Flyer/ Eagle's Flight mid course for some of those shots?
The rides are GREAT, the shows are GREAT, the fun is GREAT, at Marriott's Great America! REMEMBER Marriott's GREAT AMERICA, REMEMBER Marriott's GREAT AMERICA!

Good question! The answer is "no". All shots taken from Delta Flyer / Eagle's Flight were while it was moving. In one shot, taken from the upper flume walkway on Loggers Run, Delta/Eagles is visible as stopped. That was an unrelated temporary condition.

Very nice video Steven. I did notice the did subtle movement caused from the Eagles Flight/Delta Flyer. Well Done! It's was cool to the Title Wave in action again.

Nice vid. Just curious why you didnt show the train going up the back spike. And ya, I miss the hell out of the Tidal Wave at SFGA. That was my all-time favorite ride. Not just the ride itself, but everything else about it. The atmosphere that was created just walking through the line, and of course, all the clanks the ride made. The best was the sound of the train going through the loop, and sound made after the ride was over.
