Well I'm pretty sure you've only been to 1 of the parks so how can you say that? I think Six Flags has done a better job at preserving at least some of the theme although the County Fair and Yukon Terrritory themes are slowly dying.

I've only been to CGA, so I can't say anything about SFGam. As for the themeing, Paramount's definitely got rid of it for the Santa Clara park. However, IMO, the Gurnee park has pretty much lost it's themeing as well, with the exception of Southwest Territory. After the addition of the Dark Knight coaster, Orleans Place does not work anymore.

The Gurnee park also has a lot more land than Santa Clara does so they have a lot more attractions and more room to expand.

They won't expand any more I'm pretty sure. I think Yukon still has its theme but has no attractions except Logger's Run unless you count the kiddie areas. Mardi Gras is very well-themed. Hometown Square has barely changed and Carousel plaza is fine. With the addition of Buccaneer battle, County Fair has gone to the crapper.

Wait a minute! I don't think you've ever been to the Santa Clara park before. According to the first post on the topic you created, you said, "i've only been to gurnee". And you also say,"i will try to check it out in 2009" on the last post on the page.: http://www.greatamericaparks.com/forums ... .php?t=689

I would have to go with Gurnee even though I've never been there because Gurnee has kept a lot of their original rides like the Whizzer,Lobster,& most especially Yankee Clipper. I hope to go to the Gurnee one someday to ride the Clipper again. I sure miss those rides at CGA.

I will have to say Santa Clara since I've only been to that one. I am mad, however, that SC took out the train and Triple Play. :(
Maybe a GREAT day is just what you need this year.
