Behind the Scenes

Here's a topic we haven't discussed yet. There has to be offices where accounting, marketing, administration, human resources, etc. take place. Where in the park are these offices located? I imagine they are at the font of the park. Have they always been in the same place?

What about ride repair/maintenance shops? Where are they at? I imagine a place near the Eagle in Gurnee, but not sure.

A separate question....What is the empty shell of the Pictorium being used for in Santa Clara now? Any future plans for that building?

Since they are tearing down buildings, I was wondering the same thing. The rides office was the upstairs of the fire station. Cash control was in the center of the service road. Warehouses and maintenance were in the back not far from the locker rooms. That's also where employment and main offices were.

In the Gurnee Park, here is where the following things are at.

In Hometown Square, above where the Trolley came out into the park (between the Triple Play and the Firehouse) is the Park Operations Office.

Cash Control / Tech Services is located along the service road kind of behind Camp Cartoon Network.

The games office is located behind the Games Gallery in Co. Fair.

I don't remember where the Foods office was at, or the merchandise office either.

In the back of the park, kind of behind the Co Fair train station, was the maintance areas, which included the machine shop, paint shop, mill (for wood work), and sign shop. Also in that area is where all the Food/Merchandise was unloaded and stored until needed in the park.

That area also had the Administrative offices, Wardrobe, and the park security office.

Other than the offices sprinkled throughout the park, mainly along the service corridor, the main administration, wardrobe, maintenance shops, etc. are located in the warehouse-type buildings at the back of each park. You can see them in the aerial photos of the parks, http://www.greatamericaparks.com/sg/history/aerials/.

It's used as the subject of lots of rumors about what might be done with it in the future! ;-) Meanwhile, it's not used for anything. :-(

In '76 and maybe '77 the fire station did not exist and the rides office was in the main administration building in SC.

Reviving an old topic here...

The foods office and the merch office (separate) was with the maintenance buildings.

LP is in a small building next to the employee cafeteria. They always made it seem like that building was some big secret. There was a security trailer across from it. The Shows office was behind GMH.

Do you mean the office above the fire station didn't exist in SC? Because in the history/aerial section of this site, the station is there right behind Triple Play in 1976.
