I was wondering when the SC Demon got its track painted black with red rails? Was it originally like that when it openned or was it like the Gurnee Demon, all black, and then later the rails were painted red?

Good question, I've been wondering why the rocks have been removed.

Yeah I was wondering that too, do you think it happened because of the "tone down" of the ride?

COuld it also have been that they had decayed enough (i.e. pieces starting to fall off) that they were no longer safe?

Then why isn't the rock face gone? And if it started to decay and they saved it why didn't they save the rest of it?

They would'nt of decayed anyway because if they did Gurnee's rocks would be gone too. It probably was because of the toning down.

People need to get a life. That was a really stupid thing for Marriott to be forced to take the stuff down.

Marriott didn't take it down... that all happened after Marriott sold the parks. SC still had most of the original Demon theming intact when I visited in 1990. Gurnee lost a lot of it after Six Flags took over. But it IS nice to see them bring as much of it back as they can for Fright Fest. Way to go SFGAm for that!

The Gurnee rocks were different from the SC rocks. The Gurnee rocks look more like sandstone, while the SC rocks look more like lava rocks or something. Probably more accurate to the areas they were in. But Gurnee still has all of their rocks (I sense a joke here somewhere)...

Thanks for the pictures of the Sky Whirl cabins.

The strangest (and best) one I think is the picture of the floor of the cabin. That really brings back memories of riding up there.

I was looking at the Demon commercial, AGAIN (as usual, lol) and I was wondering, why do you think they didn't have red water coming out of the waterfall?
