What was your/least favorite operational season?

Post by that_guy »

I have brought up a topic like this before that didn't do too well, but I am willing to start this one:

What was your favorite and or least favorite operational season and why?

For me (Gurnee park)

Low point is a two-way tie:

'87 - Edge removed and replaced with Power Dive
'89 - Rolling Thunder

There was just nothing new to get excited about in those years.

Favorite year -- probably '81 for me. How can anything top the opening of the American Eagle? :) I remember standing in line 3 hours to ride. And it was worth it!

Gurnee will always be my home park...

Ed,

Did you prefer Warner Brothers characters over Hanna-Barbera characters for sentimental reasons or was it because of some other reason?

So when Great America opened in 1976, i didnt have Warner Bros. characters? I thought Bugs Bunny has always been the mascot.

Santa Clara went to Hana-Barbera characters after Paramount bought the park.

With the Warner Bros. charaters there were more shows, special costumes, and special appearances. Also everyone from all ages and places recognized them.

The way I gather it is that the first year without Warner Bros. characters was his least favorite season. This was Santa Clara only. Gurnee has had Warner Bros. characters every year.
