souvenir buttons

Post by steven »

Greetings!

I've been away from the site and forums for a while. Hope to start catching up soon. Meanwhile, have some souvenir buttons:

The white ones were employee buttons. The black Demon button was part of a special promotion with 7-UP.

Regarding the salute-to-the-states buttons, I believe Gurnee had only these three states. This represented their core market area. I don't know if Santa Clara had similar salutes to California or any other state. I've never seen any.

Regarding Coca-Cola and 7-UP, MGA had both.

I have a Wisconsin button somewhere... I have a BUNCH of buttons somewhere but I can't find them!!! I need to start hunting.

What's the story on the background paper? Looks like food wrapping or something? Very cute design!!! Reminds me of that "Tootsie Roll" commercial "Whatever it is I think I see becomes a Tootsie Roll to me" ;-)

I know what you mean about having trouble finding buttons. Among those that I have but can't find are:

Have a GREAT day
Discover Marriott's GREAT AMERICA, Gurnee, Illinois
non-7-UP Demon marketing buttons (not sold at the park)
and more...

When you find yours, please post photos!

Good question about the background paper! It's the paper used for the merchandise bags. Purchases at the shops in the parks were bagged in this. It started out as paper only. Later a plastic version, with the same design, was used.
