I was referring to the Gurnee Park in the summer of 79. I think they sent Mike Kehoe from california to do Elvis in the 50's show.
Is that the same guy that came on as Bogart in Silver Screen once in '78 without his pants?

i was in the Rock and Roll show
it played at Theater Royale in the evenings for several weekends

The Music Man ran the summer of 79 in Theater Royale

I'm pretty sure the Rock n Roll show was in the early fall of 78
Sept/Oct when the park was open for weekends

(it ran about 25-30minutes)

Actually, Joey, Music Man ran in the summer of '78 in Santa Clara.

While the Rock and Roll show was on, the bumper cars became a disco, if I recall.

You mean the place that was sung about?

"Come and meet, those aching feet, in the Music Hall by the Tidal Wave, and Great America"?

You don't remember me? :( I was the shark!

I seem to recall that 1977's "Bourbon Street Follies" re-appeared briefly at the Gurnee park a few years later, possibly because that year's show wasn't ready yet. I'm thinking it was the spring of '81 before "The Bugs Bunny Show" premiered. Does anyone remember this?

That is correct. Although I don't know if it was the full show or a scaled down version. The Bugs Bunny Show finally opened for full-time operation. And it never went to the Santa Clara park. And on the Santa Clara side, Bugs Bunny's Wonder Circus never came to Gurnee.

Additional Gurnee venue/shows

Post by Joe »

There was also a Circus (athough I don't know what year[s] - I *think* that Mark Hawbecker was the ringmaster) and "Country Music Time!" played the summer of 1980 in the area that later became the queue line for the American Eagle (Gurnee park).

Thanks for the list!
