According to the norcal coasters webpage, where those pics are from, the tidal wave is being shipped to SFKK to be used for spare parts. Also according to norcal page, the pictures were taken in the marine world parking lot, which is where the santa clara tidal wave was sent to a few years ago.

I'm kinda wondering that too, maybe there was a plan to rebuild it at marine world and it just didn't work out, but if anyone knows for sure, we'd appreciate hearing what happened.

With regards to the paint scheme, the ride was repainted the green and yellow color during the off-season of 1998-1999, when the ride was renamed Greez'd Lightning.

The tidal wave was blue originally, then it was repainted to the green color when it became greased lightnin as mentioned above

The following is a picture from RCDB showing the final color scheme. As you will see the track, with the exception of the loop, is green: http://www.rcdb.com/ig75.htm?picture=8

yeah, but that color scheme has the track only as green and the frame blue. if you look at the original post picture, the entire loop (track and frame) is lime green.

it's very interesting that SFKK has BOTH tidal wave's from the marriott parks.

as for it being for parts....i dunno. why would they paint it for parts??? something doesn't add up.

i read that SFMW needs land for their new area so maybe they just needed somewhere to "restore" it??

i just hope it goes up somewhere else and doesn't become a casualty.

It would be great if the santa clara tidal wave was only being moved and not destroyed for parts, and you were right that_guy, it was blue still on the outer part, only the inner track portion was repainted that green color. I forgot about the blue color because when I visited the park in Nov., the 4 concrete footings and all of the remaining parts of the station have been painted a beige color.

Sorry about that; I forgot that the outer portion, such as the loop and supports were still blue after the repainting.

They should have just used the Astroworld one. It will probably end up being scrapped anyways.
