Highway Sign not working

I've driven by Great America numerous times and have noticed that for some time now the highway sign isn't working anymore. I remember hearing they were probably going to replace the sign... anyone know what's up with that?

I have noticed that as well, and I believe it has been not working since the middle of winter.

As far as a new sign, when Ron S. was the GM of the park, he said that he wanted to put in a new sign (kind of like PKI's). Now that he is no longer the GM, I'm not sure where those plans sit.

I do know that any change to the sign will have to go through the village of Gurnee first. So far, nothing has come through yet for approval. When it does, I'll pass that information on.

If/When they replace it, I got dibs on the "Great America" part!

^Then I call the "Marriott's" part (it should be there still. Time Warner just covered up the old Marriotts GREAT AMERICA sign with their logo.)

I got dibs on everything else. Everytime Ive passed the sign its been working. It doesnt look like the sign needs to be replaced but if something is wrong then all they need to do is replace the stuff that isnt working.

It doesn't HAVE to be replaced
The whole point is to show people where to get off on the Highway right?
But I guess Gurnee wants money from advertising, since thats practically all these new signs do...

The inner workings of the sign are pretty much DEAD. And it is incredibly old technology. So much more can be done with LED's and the like. I think sign replacement falls under capital improvments that aren't rides. And I think it may be in the next 2 years that it hits the dirt.

And the "Marriotts" is no longer on the sign. The sign was heavily modified and cut so the letters could be backlit (which is isn't any more)

The sign seemed to be working OK last season but when it ended they just shut it off.

Does anyone have a picture of the current sign?

Is it the original one like Steven has on the welcome page(seen in Santa Clara)?

I believe the sign looks the same today, except the bottom part with the lights no longer works.
