Good Bye Theater Royale

Post by jonrev »

It's been confirmed, Royale at Gurnee will become queue for Dark Knight. :(

Also, Grand Music Hall will also become a video presentation theater.

Does that mean that the queue will be housed in the existing structure and that the New Orleans-style facade will be maintained? Or that the building will be destroyed and be replaced with an outdoor zig-zag queue?

Seeing that "Dark Knight" is supposed to be a Dark Ride, I'd hope it was the latter

Looks like SFGam is slowly starting to catch up to CGA when it comes to not using/getting rid of Marriott era attractions. At least CGA uses both of the afformentioned theaters for theatrical purposes.

And does SFGam still use their Imax? That is the one theater I wish CGA still used. :(

Theater Royale is the same as CGA's "Showtime Theater," right? The one under Top Gun's roll? And I think we're losing our pictorium for the future woodie...I've heard that building's already gutted and has been water damaged...

^Yeah. The Theatre Royale is the same thing as the Showtime Theater which is next to Top Gun.

Rumor.

I think once people see the theming of DK's queue line it should justify the removal of Theatre Royale. It also makes sense for the park to use it because the shows that were in Theatre Royale were nothing you couldnt see in Bugs Bunny Starlight Spectacular or Brunch With Bugs anyway, there is plenty of charector presence outside of the theatre. I dont think many families would care about TR's removal, now if the rumors turn out to be true about GMH, that will be a completely different story.

It's sad to see Royale go (in whatever fashion). That was the first theatre I worked in at the park after transfering out of rides. The little closet under the office in there had a table with hundreds of signatures on it from previous crews and casts.

Backstage was always fun as was the trap door that lead under the stage.

Ah....memories.

Nice theming, but way to ruin a great-looking theater...

The new facade is nice-looking on its own, but it doesn't fit in with New Orleans. Do theme park managers think about the long term? This is how Santa Clara's theming went downhill.

At the sfgamworld forums they said that the queue is going to be in there, the preshow and some one told me that they will sill be showing shows in there but I don't believe that at all.
