Déjà Vu 10/7/2001 to 10/28/2007?

Post by stockboy300 »

This ride is in gurnee and I'm starting to see on different sites that it is being taking down. Is this true? I thought they where taking down Splash Waterfalls for the Dark Knight. 6 flags is going to take down a high powered coaster for a kiddy coaster? Wow I'm a season pass holder and not happy about it. I Loved the back car on this ride great free fall!!

According to screamscape the answer to your question is YES. It is confirmed that Splashwater Falls, Déjà Vu and Space Shuttle America will not be returning in 2008.

In another thread on this site it was indicated that the dark knight would be located where Theatre Royale currently is.

If still true, then I would assume that Splashwater Falls & Déjà Vu are being removed for a larger ride (possibly spanning over the walkway?) and would be installed at a later time. The Barney Oldfield Speedway track layout can be reworked as needed. (which was already done once before when Splashwater Falls was installed).

Various sites said Deja Vu and Splashwater were being removed due to high maintenance costs.

I never rode Deja Vu, but from reading other sites, it sounds like it was a total mechanical nightmare to keep running.

Splashwater Falls, I believe, was a Six Flags-designed ride. So I suspect some of the wear-and-tear parts aren't common or readily available after 20 or so years. And fabricating stuff you need is pricey.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Splashwater Falls was built by Hopkins but I'm not sure on that. Also, right now the rumor is that Deja Vu will go to Silverwood in Idaho. I hope they stock up on some Advil because that thing is one big headache.

Yes, deja vu will probably go to silverwood. Also, rumor has it that a skycoaster will be built in the next few years

^As are Griffon at Busch Gardens Europe, and Oblivion at Alton Towers. I would love to ride one of them.

You will not be able to see anything going on with either. The parts that have been removed from DejaVu are smaller mechanical parts around the station/towers, the structure is still standing untouched, and the Dark Knight is just foundation work.
