Ferris Wheel?
Do you think that Six Flags Great America and California's Great America should put a ferris wheel in.
RIP Sky Whirl (1976-2000)

Ferris Wheel?
The Santa Clara park actually had a traditional Ferris Wheel back in the early 80's. I can't remember which year, but it was probably in "80 or '81 and I think it only lasted one season. It was located where the Edge was ultimately built. I don't know if Gurnee had one though.
As for if I think they should build one...short of a similar or superior design to the Sky Whirl, I just don't think it would be very practical for either park, as the capacity and throughput is not good for a large theme park. I think the more "traditional" wheel works at DCA because Disney has mastered the art of "throughput" in all of their attractions.

I survived the Tidal Wave on opening day in 1977!

Both parks had a ferris wheel (besides skywhirl)
Here is the old Ferris wheel thread

I recall riding the ferris wheel in Gurnee. It was located between Eagles Flight and the train station. It was probably removed (1984 or earlier)when the train station was moved over for the 1985 Z force installlation.

I still say a wonder-wheel type ferris wheel would be great like this.

Ferris Wheel
I agree that they should have a ferris wheel but I think they should bring back the original Sky Whirl only use something stronger looking than chains to hold the cars up there. My dad never took me on it because he did not like the idea of being held up there with chains, he goes on coasters though.
