Splashwater Falls Removal

Post by RLAiello »

So I know the park removed Splashwater Falls for this year. Any word on what will replace it?

What is in its place now?

Of course, my dream come true would be for the park to re-re-configure the Raceway to its ORIGINAL configuration (with the "figure 8" track rather than just the oval)...

But that's of course a dream... :)

they actually don't have any thing there right now, all they did was remove the super structure and drain the pool and take out the exit walkway.
you can still see the concrete path for it after it reached the bottom, it is so depressing.

Ugh.. that is depressing. Hopefully something will be going into that spot soon. Though that may mean the Raceway goes, too. :(

The mechanics were told for 2007 to "make it run one more year", it didn't make it through half of 2007.

The boat goes up the lift, makes a U-turn, and goes down, and another U-turn into the station.

I have a bunch of footage from 2006 of the ride running, I've been sitting on the video project for years though.

I liked Splash Water Falls to cool off on a hot day. I'm sorry to see it go, but I can just imagine how much maintenance it took to keep that thing running.... That said I'm suprised it lasted over 20 years :o

At least it isn't Loggers Run or Yankee Clipper! Be thankful you still have those two! Has the Gurnee Loggers Run changed its layout like the one at CGA?

It was goofy

the pump that supplied the upper trough was called 'the Show Water Pump" and did not need to operate to make the boats go down the chute. They would have rolled dry on gravity, maybe a little more slowly. And that water was foul!

What will replace Splash Waterfalls

Post by GreatAmerica#1fan »

I think there were rumors of the park moving the gokarts and demolishing the Great America Raceway and the remenants of SWF. Which totally sucks I agree rip out the go karts (who wants to pay $7.00 a ride??) But bring back Space Shuttle America for Fright Fest and the Superstition film that played here during this time.
