Hot Shoppe at Marriott's Great America
Hot Shoppe
In your photos of Trudy's Sweet Shoppe (I remember when this was located where the Opera House Sweet Shoppe used to be!), where the small bay window is on the left, that's where Hot Shoppe used to be.

Its amazing on how close the original Hot Shoppe and the park replicas are. The light fixtures above the doors are EXACTLY the same, and the street address above the door is on all three locations as well, "3126"
The space is now used for storage. The original hardwood floor inside remains, but the counter has changed. The menu sign for the coffee shop is still on the wall.

Man you guys kill me! Awesome stuff. I'm pretty sure they served Root Beer floats in the Hot Shoppe because I remember as a kid we always forced the Home Town Square opening as opposed to Orleans Place. Of course, once Shockwave was built and the root beer was now Barqs (you could get Barqs anywhere so who cared now?) that got reversed.

gurnee hot shoppe
You would not believe how many people would line up for 5 cent root beer. You had to slide the glass down the bar to the guest. Later it was a coffee bar. Now the area is a kitchen and storage area for Trudy's Candy Shoppe.
Original wall paper is still on the walls...as is the menu/price for coffee shop. Windows are covered with old black burlap.
