Re: Shockwave Trains
^I'm curious about a blue train in 1988 - I was pretty sure they were either red or yellow? From what I heard back then - the 4th train was in an 'accident' on the way to the park. As I remember it, trains stacked most of the time. But even when the ride was new, the line moved fast. The capacity wa...

Re: Can we petition Great America to bring back Tidal Wave?
I say put it over the entrance of the park Have a whole storyboard thing about the rides history, being old (but fun!) technology, etc. NOT with a RIDICULOUS LOOOOONG que like Little Dipper, Please.

Re: American Eagle construction vid
Rode red today - flying like a bat out of hell. The ride could still be a top ride, with a little tlc, closer entrance, etc. etc... AE is maintained LIGHT YEARS better than most other SF parks' woodies (GA cyclone comes to mind, so many...) Let all the paint fall off - it doesn't make sense to spend...

Re: Z-Force Revisited
I remember all the cool commercials when it came out - very 80's! We waited for well over an hour in the hot sun which turned out to be a HUGE headache machine! And you couldn't see over the high seat backs. I'm pretty sure opening year was 1985 as that was a big year for me - the first time I rode ...

Re: Can we petition Great America to bring back Tidal Wave?
Also, with Whizzer and Little Dipper, it's clear Great America has a nice stake in rides... older rides, history, the integrity that comes with keeping those rides. I think they should expand a little on that. Whizzer needs an ACE plaque or some sort of accolade, in my opinion. Last Friday, I was at...

Re: Can we petition Great America to bring back Tidal Wave?
Of course we can. Where do I sign, or stand? I think it is a GREAT idea. Bring it back, have all those little 'history boards' (that the park is good at, look at Little Dipper) and tell the story of the ride, where it went, and it's back by popular demand. They could also have information about the ...

Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?
After riding Whizzer - I mean 'Karate Kid' 2 times today, I can also say that if Whizzer leaves, so do I. Replace the parts, have new parts ordered/made whatever. Update with station brakes and/or mag brakes, but DON'T touch the train design. The ride is perfect. Even with UGLY bright yellow catwalk...

Re: Tidal Wave original commercial
Thanks so much Steven! I've waited so long for this!!!
This is great - that's Pat Ast as the professors lovely assistant. She is most famous (I think?) for her role as the Warden Edna (Ed) in Reform School Girls (1986).

Re: IT"S GONE! WHAT IS NEXT?
If Whizzer leaves, I leave.
Not that anyone cares...
That ride is the heart and soul of the park. Make the parts. Overhaul the bolts. Buy reproduction trains exactly the same. Maintain it. Let the trees continue to grow. It's perfect.

My American Eagle NoLimits POV videos
I hope you enjoy them: http://www.youtube.com/tiggercoaster There is so much that could be added (proper structure, crows nest, brake run tops, etc. etc., there is some 'pumping' in the big helix) but I'm pretty happy with my recreation. I believe it to be pretty true to the real ride. The brake set...

Tidal Wave commercial?
Does anyone know if it's anywhere on line?
Who wouldn't love to see it! I remember very well the "I survived the Tidal Wave" cartoonish tee shirts. Alot of the 'bigger' kids had them around the time.

Re: Gurnee's Sky Trek Tower in the process of new paintjob
I'm so glad someone is alive in this forum! I thought I was the only one, hey everyone, check out my American Eagle thread a couple topics down! I'm glad the tower is getting painted. The CA version looks great! (in pics anyway). I sure would like to see "GREAT AMERICA" on the bottom of th...

AMERICAN EAGLE - anyone have old pics or layout specs?
I'm working on a nolimits re-creation of the Eagle and am trying to find old pics of the ride, before the trees were grown up (I know they ain't that big, but I'm trying to do high detail) and maybe some construction pics. I know Robert Cartmell has some great construction pics in his book, but I do...

I remember driving along the I-94 beside the park, with my mom and 2 aunts. I was 7, it was 1980. I waited forever to see the Demon commercial on tv! I knew I wouldn't ride the coasters, but I was totally infatuated with them! I saw the Tidal wave go up the spike and I was freaking out. The first ri...
