I heard not to long ago that San Jose has offered the 49ers the Santa Clara County Fair grounds as a possible stadium location. San Jose has more or less killed the county fair these past few years. So they have been looking for some other use for that land. So with CF asking for more the double the...

Rumor Mill: Went the the park this weekend.. heard some news

I went to the park this weekend.. as I hadn't been to the park since July 4th I noticed a few changes. One, they are now referring to the park as "Great America" not Paramount's any more.. I also noticed that the employees had new name tags that had no company name just the employee's name...

You know now that I think about it a bit more, I think the lights I'm thinking of were on the waves that ran along the track.. those had lights and would chase with the train. Sorry about that.

Yes they were lights. Chaser lights to be exact. I think they used to be tied to the start button on the ride so they would chase as the train was pushed out of the station. I used to work days so I didn't see the lights run much, but that is what I remember of them the few times I did see them on.

In 94 I worked in Tech Services. That year the Tidal Wave was down for some repair and as I was walking down the center service road some friends of mine who were mechanics called me up to the station and said they needed more weight on the ride for testing so they had me jump on for some rides. I t...

I was in Tech Services when BHC3 was filmed. I remember them filming at the Triple Wheel and yes it was a dummy cabin. In fact they had 3 different smashed cabins for the filming.. I also remember the mechanics getting ready to pull the power to the ride when they were filming because they had real ...

Sorry to post on an old thread, but I wanted to add that my first season in rides was in Carousel Plaza is GA Santa Clara. This would have been 1990.. We had to run the Columbia for the entire song.. so if you happened to be lucky enough to be on the ride for it you got a double run.. we would resta...

I've seen the change of hight happen also. In fact they changed a kids ride last year.. or was it in 2004.. anyways they changed it in mid season. It was a little strange. My daughter was tall enough to ride at the start of the season, but by mid summer they had changed it and she was no longer tall...

Hello Everyone, This is my first post here.. I worked at GA from 1990 to 1994. 3 years in rides and 1 in Tech Services. I wonder if Six Flags will pick up GA now to complete the set. I don't know of any other "major" players in Theme Park Biz that could pick up all the Paramount parks as a...
