Re: (Six Flags) Great America Welcomes 100 Millionth Guest

Cringed when I read the article this morning and saw just how cheap the park was for marking such a big milestone. Free admission, some food and games and a flash pass? That's pretty sad...department stores do stuff like that every hour during the holidays, picking up the full cost of a lucky shoppe...

American Eagle to run backwards again

According to the Chicago Tribune's website, the blue train on the American Eagle will resume running backwards starting August 8th and running through September 17th.

George and George...thank you for providing this great time capsule of the park. Steven, thanks for hosting it. Really brings back the memories.

Six Flags files for bankruptucy

In a move that has seemed inevitable for quite a while now, Six Flags filed for bankruptcy in Delaware on on the morning of June 13, 2009.

Traffique Jam

Does anyone know why there was never a Traffique Jam built at the Santa Clara park? I could understand in following years that some Gurnee attractions may not have been installed in Santa Clara because of attendance issues. But Traffique Jam was an original park ride. Were there space constraints at...

Yeah, that's the same e-mail I got. I replied and said I wouldn't be going to Fright Fest this weekend because they are too understaffed to enforce their smoking ban, which was blatantly ignored last weekend. I got a reply five minutes later saying it was being forwarded to the General Manager.

That's what I was wondering Brian...whether they had any old park photos or models. I also doubt the wet bar would be open...especially for the focus group session they are having for teenagers the same day. :D

Focus Group@Gurnee

Did anyone here get called in for the focus group being held on 10/28? Season pass holders were sent an e-mail about it and encouraged to sign up. If picked, the attendee would be provided $40 in meal vouchers and four Fast Passes at the conclusion of the meeting. I was not selected, but I am curiou...

Fright Fest 10/20

Went to Fright Fest yesterday evening and had two pet peeves. First, wait times were unacceptably long because of the reduced capacity. Two trains running on all coasters (the American Eagle was just one track operation) meant things were just crawling in the queues. Strangely, the only coaster with...

Just got back from a visit today. The lights were on in the tunnel again. No waterfall though. They only had the black and yellow trains running. What happened to the red train? It wasn't on the storage track. Is it in maintenance or did they just do away with it completely? Chalk me up as another p...

I just got back tonight from the Gurnee park. I took my first ride on the Columbia in about ten years and have to say I was really taken aback at the condition of it. The red, white, blue and gold paint on the outside looks okay, but the cone shaped top has several very visible rust stains that the ...
