Well, there goes my childhood
https://www.greatamericaparks.com/cedar-fair-sold-the-land-at-californias-great-america-and-plans-to-close-the-park/ So upset to hear the news this morning. Many of my best childhood memories are my annual visits to Great America (Santa Clara). I've been in Seattle now for nearly thirty years, but h...

Logger's Run (CGA)
It seems like these forums are a bit of a ghost town these days, but for those who haven't already heard, we're losing one of the few remaining theme rides from the Marriott days... https://www.facebook.com/cagreatamerica/videos/10155215448283155/ I haven't been able to find any posts for this, othe...

Re: INVERTIGO to Leave California's Great America
How sad... Seems like they could have left the "bird cages" in place then...douglips wrote:Just went to CGA - the space where Invertigo was is now just a lawn.

Re: New MGA footage youtube find
That's exactly what I was thinking as well. Shame there's virtually no footage from Yankee Harbour or County Fair, but it's still awesome to take a trip back in time.nice to see the park looking so good back then.
I kept wondering if I might see a shot of myself as a seven-year old boy...

Re: Santa Clara tidal wave area w/ theming
in case you need a fix on the original theming of the tidal wave at the santa clara park. I put up some of my old pics. Very, very cool. I esp loved the perspective shot looking out of the Tidal Wave station. I remember reading that sign countless times during my many trips. I also enjoyed seeing t...

Ahhh, thanks... Such good memories. I remember my brother discovering the place and always looking forward to stopping in. It was one of those virtually undiscovered spots that was only occasionally crowded. It, along with the bbq chicken restaurant in the Yukon Territory, were my favorite food &...

Santa Clara Triple Play (always my favorite as a kid) Sky Whirl (like most here, I can still hear the sound of it 'whirling') Willard's Wizzer Tidal Wave Can I say just all the theming in the park? Not a ride, but I really miss Ye Old Rootbeer Shoppe (or whatever it was called--it was just around th...

wow... you have a really good memory. was the two hills better than the two loops? I was fairly young when the T.O.C. was transformed, but I do recall preferring the drops. I loved the sensation of weightlessness, particularly of feeling as though I was going to be jettisoned out of my seat coming ...

It's the same as the never-ending stream of people who buy a house next to a busy airport, then complain about the noise of the jets flying overhead. I used to go dancing at a club in college - which was shut down by a retirement home that went in next to the long-standing club after they c...

I remember the Hot Shoppe in Hometown Square where you could get a mug of root beer for a dime ! I was wondering if anyone else remembered this place. I discovered it quite by accident one day, sadly it was shortly before it shut. I only had their root beer twice (and I remember the 'bartender' bei...
