Re: Space Shuttle America Queue Music

Man I'd love to hear that again as well. I still vividly remember and even hum parts of it to this day.

Re: What did they do to the "Lobster"?

The word I got is that following its 2012 rehab: the motor which rotates the center stalk - the one controlling the angle the ride itself while spinning - crapped again literally after it was just repaired over the previous season. Rather than take the ride out for another season, the park ran it in...

Re: MGA attention-to-detail...Service Access Road...early ye

It would kill you to see the horrid conditions of the backstage area under the Six Flags watch. Weeds everywhere. They never cut what is left of the grass. Broken picnic tables. Trees and shrubs left untrimmed...or dead. The walkway lines have been worn away. Peeling paint. Rusting building. You th...

Re: Winter Party at SFGA

I went to one of those a few years ago when they had the Marriott and American Eagle models on display; I think it was 2006. Still kicking myself for not bringing my camera.

"Great America parks Today" section?

Any chance we could get a separate section for discussion about current things going on with the former Marriott's Great America parks? This way the forums for remembering MARRIOTT'S Great America are a bit more organized (Six Flags Bankruptcy stuff in the Remembering MGA section, Invertigo in the M...

Re: The 2009 season ends: what have you noticed?

Eagle was just painted in 2007. Only the catwalks, rails, and handrails were painted, and that already is in rough condition. The white support structure is in desperate need of paint; lots of grease stains in the lift hill area, and bare wood will begin to rot and sag over time. As for buildings; ...

Gurnee Edge may still live

Unfortunately I have nothing that can confirm it; but I have heard from someone that the Hollywood Tower at Movieland in Italy may be the former Mr Hyde's Nasty Fall; which was originally built as The Edge at Marriott's in Gurnee. Another site is saying it was to be installed at Loudoun Castle for t...

Re: Sky Whirl cabins

Powerdive went about a week or two ago. I need to go through A51 sometime and look for the Skywhirl cabins; if they're still there and they're cleaning house, I might start making phone calls soon.

Re: Gurnee's Sky Trek Tower in the process of new paintjob

Cabin is still in the process of being painted. Looks like it will be turning white. Knowing Six Flags; the bottom will probably have an advertisement of some sorts on it as they already have "SIX FLAGS" on the tower. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj161/jonrev/DSCN1167.jpg http://i272.photobuck...

They could pump water back to the waterfall if they wanted to, but it's a matter of the rock facade and track being structurally safe. The water severely corroded the rock and damaged the track as well. Dont quote me on this but I could've sworn I've heard that a section of track just before the cor...
