Obviously, everyone is correct. Like I said, that was way too easy for this group. :) I always thought Z-Force was a great ride. If nothing else, it was very unique at the time. I had the opportunity to ride it again much later in its life at Magic Mountain in 1996 and it was a total disaster. The t...

Glad to share with everyone! You all have good eyes -- the pictures are from various seasons. The arial shot was taken from Sky Trek Tower (think that was the operating name at the time) probably in '84 when The Edge was still down due to the accident. The others were from '83. Power Dive was such a...

Brian -- the Demon queue tape is unbelievable! I made a really bad copy of the song using a micro-cassette player and standing in front of the speakers back in '83. Thanks for sharing that MP3!

Gurnee Edge Photos - Dialup beware!

Here are some pictures form my collection of The Edge in Gurnee. Sorry for the poor quality. The source photos weren't that good to begin with (shot with 110 Kodak instant) and my scanner seemed to make it worse. I need to take a class in PhotoShop one of these days. Enjoy! Edge Accident - Facts

From what I was told when I worked there, is this.. How the ride worked was that the car was lifted up one tower and a set of brakes stopped it and moved it over to the tower that it came down on. What malfunctioned was the brake at the top of the first tower failed and the ride came back down the ...

Jw, your comment "It was kind of a feeling of abandonment" hit home. Same here. I remember reading about the sale of the park in the paper and I was stunned. I distinctly remember thinking that the "feel" of the park was going to be lost. Within a few years, if I remember correc...

I had mentioned earlier that I had a souvenir from The Edge. A bolt, which I picked up off the ground during the rides demolition twenty years ago. I have not seen the bolt for a while , but it surfaced again last night while I was going through some boxes in my basement. Here it is... http...
