Merry Go Round

Does anybody know what happened with the old carrousel which was removed from county fair (gurnee) at the end of 2003? Its old, from the 1920s I think. Last time I looked it up. It was still listed in The National Carousel Association's Census. It was listed with the rides history, but now I cannot ...

My first employee Chirstmas party was either in dec 85 or 86. Yes I do seem to remember a snowball fight. I worked at the park until 92 and I went to several of the parties, but I'm not sure if I went every year.

At the Gurnee Park, I attended an employee christmas party one evening during late december. It took place in Moosejaw/Snowshoe Salon, which was the only thing open for the party. I walked around a bit in the Yukon Territory. I remember that it was cold, dark, with a some snow on the ground.

I have been in the Gurnee park during winter, but I never took any pictures. I did take several pictures on a fall weekday, while the park was closed. It was during october and the park was decorated for fright fest. Fall color everywhere and not a person was in sight. The park was a peaceful place ...

I recall a line watcher in the Queue line area for the White Water Rampage as well (Gurnee).

I also recall a wooden maze that people could walk through. It was small and only lasted a couple years.

The Edge was still standing in 1985. I know this because this was the year I worked on the Clipper and I remember seeing the Edge every day. There was talking of it operating again, but that never came to be. When it was taken down I remember seeing all of the debris on the ground. I picked up a lar...

But, I do have sad news to report. Over the winter, all but 4 Sky Whirl cages were removed from the park. My fear is that they took the same fate as the ones in the CA park. . I found this add for a used Sky Whirl for sale a short while back. $525,000 http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?r...

I am glad to hear that it is open regularly. It was closed last time in the park (late 04) and I took several photos of Yankee Clipper (I dont care much for the new name) I have been worried about this ride (actually, both flumes) especially with the new water park now being open. Thanks.

Yes the two flume rides run side by side at some areas at ground level. I always thought that this part was pretty cool especially at some of the curves. I have worked on the Yankee Clipper for a year (Gurnee) in 85 and am very familiar with the layout. I hope SFGA keeps this ride running. Anyway, I...

I believe that this covered walkway (in Gurnee) needed to be removed along with Skywhirl so that Déjà Vu would fit.

SC Yankee Clipper

What was the fate of the Yankee Clipper in SC? I have seen a photo online of it sitting in a parking lot in pieces. Does anybody know if this ride was rebuilt or if it was scrapped? I do know that the Gurnee ride is still operating. It is a favorite of mine.
