the walk
Oh come on brdwyguy, your walk didn't compare at all to the walk to Royale. Along that long, lonely, unlit back sevice road by the lake, facilities and the boneyard. To get to the cafateria you only had to go behind your theatre. We had to walk halfway accross the park.

IBM event
At Santa Clara one year IBM boutght out the park for a party night. This was done quite often by local groups and companies. It was during the summer and it didn't get dark until late so IBM had a company come and do a daylight fireworks display, with special daytime fireworks......daytime fireworks...

Circus
Behind the Pavillion there was no real facilites for holding animals. Unless it was only small animals. There were 2 train cars converted into dressing rooms for the performers. The floor of the performace area of the Pavillion was concrete wich is not so desiralbe for animal acts. I remember ths sh...

Me too
I preferred the Turn of the Century also. You can do loops anywhere, but those negitive G camelbacks were the best.

A circus
In the first year of the Santa Clara park there was a circus "Circus Fantastic" in the very back across from the games area (now the Gizzly) In '82 they were bringing the circus back and integrating it with the character show (as "It's Magic", a non character show, was playing in...

Riding Tiday Wave
I remember on a peticularly slow day a friend and I after work went to the Tidal Wave. There was no one in line, and as long as when the ride stopped and no one was waiting to board we did not have to get off and would stay on for another ride. We were in the furthest back seats. For anyone who real...

theatre use other than for shows
At the Santa Clara park for the last few years private events are the only thing being held in Thetre Royale. They have not had a show in that theatre for quite a while. I guess they have been making good money on the rentals of it, and why its destruction was narrowly averted recently.

Santa Clara open for full year once
After the summer of 82, the Santa Clara park tried to stay open all year through to the '83 season, weekends only. I remember working an outdoor show that season and it being rained out constantly. Attendace was very low, espacially on the rainy days. It was a total money loser and they never did it...

food policy
As far as I know it alway has been there. I do remember though that it sometimes wasn't strictly enforced as I recall seeing people in the park with red wagons full of outside food and articles. Once in Yankee Harbor I remeber a family actually went up to one of the grassy islands in the area in fro...

Whizzer trains
So we are aware here we are treading on some sensitve ground as there was a death involved with the Whizzer that had to do with number of trains and breaking systems. There is what was brought up in court how it operates, and how it really operates. This is the information I got from an experieced W...

Never saw them in Santa Clara
This is the first I have ever heard of someting like that. I don't ever remember seeing them in the Santa Clara park. Maybe Californians are more trustworthy  . I do remeber in the early years how long the lines were for the big rides, taking at least and hour. After the park had been open abo...
