Are you saying you started to rub off the logo and then waxed it to keep it from coming off? Or that the logo was coming off and you waxed it and it stayed on longer? I'm kinda confused ? The logo was not a sticker, it was painted on. The rubing compound started rubibng off the logo. When I saw thi...

Here is some Santa Clara Title Wave trivia: 1) I was part of the crew that waxed the train on the morning that it opened to the public the first time. Trying to get it perfect, I used a little rubbing compound on the logo on the first car. The Title Wave logo was painted on, and as you would guess, ...

The city of Santa Clara owns the land and Paramount owns all of the improvements (i.e. buildings, rides, pavement, etc.).

Re: BUGS BUNNY MONEY

This was suppose to make people spend more. Actually, the intent of this type of money is to spend more money on something that was worthless. They cost the park a ~penny and if they sell them for $1.00 each, the park makes 99 cents for each one not used. That sure is a nice mark up. Why would they...

In the 2.5 summers that I worked on Loggers it happened maybe twice. I don't know if there was an oficial policy, but that was how we dealt with it.

The first season the park was open I was a sweeper in County Fair. We had a nick name for the Sky World and it was "Barf Buckets" for the reason described above. My personally theory why was people would first ride the Turn of The Century a couple of times and get a queasy stomach. They wo...

The Santa Clara one had a habit of derailing. I was trained to operate it in '78 or '79 and was told that it had a habit of derailing and what to do when it did. I only operated it a couple of days and on one of those days it did derail. What I mean was that only one set of wheels came off. not the ...

When I worked on the Santa Clara Loggers in the late 70's there were no picture taking or characters. The closest was the "finger". As the log was leaving the station there was a sign in a shape of a hand telling the guests to remain seated. The index finger was position across the flume i...

TOC Ride defect fix

I like the following two pictures because they show the fix for the TOC design flw. About half way through the first season an axle on one of the trains on the Santa Clara TOC broke as the train was coming out of the cork screw. A week or so later an axle on one of the other trains also broke as the...

Does anyone know whether or not the original Turn of the Century coaster cars were rethemed and used as the cars for the Demon? If so, are those same cars still being used on the Demon now? When the Demon opened, the cars were the same cars used on the TOC. I do not know what cars that they are usi...

I have scanned 4 images of the Rotor at Riverview (Cajan Cliffhangers 1st life 1952-1967). The book is Riverview - Gone but not forgotten 1904-1967 by Chuck Wlodarczyk, which he has for sale online. This is an excellent book. I bought it ~10 years ago while visiting my Aunt who lives in Park Ridge.

[quote="SFGAmLover"]Thanks for the link, Tanya! That sky ride appears to be very similar to Waldameer Park's (Erie, PA) ride (same manufacturer?). quote] I bet one thing that the Boardwalk's one has that the Waldamerr Park doesn't have is the caveman and cave woman. One car has the caveman...

Thanks for the picture.

Part of one summer I had to be at work at 6:30 A.M. and found that was my favorite time to be in the park. The music was off, no rides running, the park was empty, everything was damp from the morning dew, and just the fresh feeling walking around.
