Six Flags is bankrupt but not going out of business. Six Flags Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This type of bankruptcy protection means that the theme parks are making money (positive cash flow), however, they are not making enough money to pay off all of their debts on time....

Steven, thanks for posting these! I love the one commercial where the wife makes fun of the wide lapels on the father's suit coat. It looks like all the scenes with the family were filmed at the Santa Clara park. The concert series commercials were definitely for the Santa Clara park. I honestly don...

Adventureland movie...memories of working at MGA
Just saw the trailer for a new film called Adventureland that comes out on March 27th. It's a comedy film about a seasonal Games host at a theme park (filmed at Kennywood) back in 1987. The scenes from the house party really brought back memories of the crazy house parties we had back in the MGA day...

That's really sad to hear...he never got to see the movie get released. The film's name has been shorted to '77 and it debuted at the Hamptons International Film Festival in October 2008 but it still was not 100% complete. Since that time, I haven't seen/heard anything about it. This looks like such...

I'm 99% confident SFGA will make it through the 2009 season. What happens after October depends on Six Flags Corporate financial position. They will milk every penny they can out of the parks this summer and if they still can't make their debt repayments, they'll probably file for bankruptcy after t...

The reason they only use one side of the chutes is a combination of safety/training/maintenance issues. I worked at Logger's Run in 1978 and we used both chutes all the time. By designing the rides with two chutes, they could run a few more boats on the ride which allowed the rides to have a greater...

lol, nah, no freefalling feeling...just a second or two of smooth sailing (no vibrations from bouncing against the sides of the flume) before a big splash. I think it's more of the psych out factor....you'd expect to have the biggest splash immediately at the bottom of the drop but not so. You hit t...

Six Flags Great America fans don't worry. Great America will keep operating despite what may happen to the Six Flags corporation. Great America-Gurnee is the cash cow for the Six Flags corporation...it's the park that brings in the most profits. It is true that Great America's owner, Six Flags Corp....

Blast from the Past! Great Pictures. I, too, noticed how small all the trees are and the abundance of polyester clothing...hello '70s Show. It's funny to see that the park still looks much the same today but the people in those photos are now senior citizens and probably take their grandchildren to ...
