Some of the top lights are still there but a bunch of jackasses thought it would be "funny" to toss rocks at them and break them (and I believe some of the glass injured some riders). So they are turned off and they re-programmed the light cycle in there so that only the side lights work ...

There IS a stairwell that goes all the way to the top. At the top there is a door/hatch facing up(If I remember correctly). From the top the flag can be maintained as well as the beacon light(at Santa Clara due to the proximity to the San Jose Airport). BTW: That is a LONG walk up that stairwell. It...

George Buck remained as the Security Dept. Manager (Santa Clara) through at least 1993. I'm not sure when he left, but not long after that, the department was "Shuffled". Buck left, and one of the supervisors, Pat Huckaby, moved to park services. He, Pat Huckaby, later returned to security...

In Santa Clara, during the KECO days, the park would have an employee only sale where merchandise and games prizes were sold off at really cheap prices. I don't know what happened after the sale with the leftovers, though.
