Oh, and in case you haven't been to the Santa Clara park recently, the old sign on Hwy 101 (which used lightbulbs to form letters) has been replaced. The new sign has video capabilities, and PGA rents space on it to various companies, in addition to promoting its' own park's events (I'm assuming PGA...

As part of the security officers' duties when the park was closed, an officer would have to drive around the entire park on some type of a regular patrol schedule. It was fun to drive through the closed park. I have two words: FAST, and REVERSE.

I remember back in '78 or '79 some disgruntled techie quit the park in mid-season and on his last day he programmed the Marriott sign to say
DISNEYLAND IS BETTER. It flashed like that for like two hours until someone at the park reported it.[/quote]

THAT would be funny to see....

Re: Cafeteria

Boy -- You guys have great memories...i had forgotten all about those lunches. I remember on a few occasions when we (security) would have to drop everything to respond to some emergency in the park and come back to find our lunches were cleaned off the tables. Ugh! calitg8r: Yeah I remember ...

imdamon has it right. The key piece of information in this discussion is the fact that we are talking about PRIVATE PROPERTY. The PGA security force has no jurisdiction off of the PGA property, but on site they can make any attempt to stop a vehicle they want. The red/blue lights mentioned can be us...

Thanks for the pictures of the Sky Whirl cabins.

The strangest (and best) one I think is the picture of the floor of the cabin. That really brings back memories of riding up there.

OMG! I remember Larry!

OMG! I remember Larry. I saw him almost daily when I worked at GA from 1989-1992. He always had an energy to him that most never had or had lost. There is one thing that Larry always has with him, that many employees leave at home...his SMILE. I'm glad to hear that he is still there. At least there ...

I asked my wife, who worked as a Pictorium hostess 1990-1993 in Santa Clara, and she came up with: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Pictorium, home of the world's largest motion picture experience, and this showing of Flyers. The screen which stands before you measures 70 feet tall, by 96 feet w...

I just found the site again. I had visited in the past, but apparently before the forum days.

there is plenty to discuss still. I worked at Santa Clara GA from 1989 through 1992. A lot can happen in 4 seasons!

So, off we go....
