Re: X-Flight coaster coming in 2012

It is interesting how different press releases for X-flight have different statistics for the Park including number of children's areas and size of the water park. Six flags seems to vary the term "story" to fit its needs...that is story in the sense of the eagle is 18 stories tall and the...

Re: Buffet Le Grand

Sad to report that Buffet LeGrand has been closed for decades. In fact, the building now is mostly closed but you can still peek in a window to see the old dining rooms. Part of the building was converted into a bakery/coffee shop with free wifi. Most items looks to be of the par-bake variety and ba...

Re: Employee cafeteria

I always hoped the "Character Cafe" would offer a salad or fresher food. Everything was fried. I would watch co-workers eat cheese fries and greasy burgers day after day. Ah, youth. All in all the food was iffy at best....in more recent years the quality was subpar. Still, you only paid $3...

Re: Iron Wolf to be removed for sure.

No love lost here. So now there are two locations for a new coaster...but that does not mean SFGA will get two new coasters. I think new coaster will be located in Iron Wolf area...plenty of space behind it, too. Splashwater Falls/antique car ride are will be hld for water park expansion.

Re: Screams and Dreams 1972-1984

What on earth were those folks at Six Flags thinking when they produced this mess? What a missed opportunity. I found this film to be a major disappointment and quite the bore. Only the most die hard amusement park fanatics might find this presentation to be even remotely interesting. Six Flags has ...

Re: "SCR*EA*MS and Dreams" premieres today

It appears that SixFlags is playing the nostalgia angle this year. The new movie leaves one with the impression of what Great America was and was meant to be. Under Six Flags, the park has been in a slow decline and is only a shadow of its former glorious self. Great America is no longer a theme par...

Re: American Eagle construction vid

Great video. Too bad Six Flags has done a less than stellar job of maintaining the coaster. Oil and grease stains on struts. Peeling paint everywhere. Red and blue paint almost faded away. No racing trains since 6 Flags usually runs only one train. Oh, how I miss the Marriott days.

Major Attractions: the Marriott Years

1976: Marriott's Great America opens on May 29, 1976, in Gurnee, IL, north of Chicago. The themed areas are: Carousel Plaza, the first section beyond the main gates, which features the Columbia Carousel. Orleans Place with the Gulf Coaster (removed after first year), Traffique Jam, the Rue Le Dodge ...

Re: The Plush Horse attic

Other haunted places in the park....the second floor above the 2010 location of Trudy's Sweet Shop. The room contains sound equipment and is storage for gift shops. Lots of things going bump in the night....but might have been crew members.

GOODBYE BUGS BUNNY NATIONAL PARK

Six Flags is closing another Marriott attraction: Bugs Bunny National Park. The area is no longer listed for 2011. Sections of the Looney Tooter Railroad are now in the graveyard. No word on what is the fateof the Marriott-era Buzzy Bees ride and the hellicopters.Too bad. The area was beautifully th...

Re: Music! Music! Music! clips on youtube

Wow. You got that right. Things have changed a lot. Only one show in park which is located in the Grand Music Hall. Other who locations like the circus, Theater Orleans and Wilderness Theater have been closed for years. It is basically the same show every year. Music is now on tape. Very few set pie...

Re: How Did You Do It ?

Positons were suppose to be rotated every 30 minutes or so ..but that rarely happened. You kind of get into a grove and the day can go fast. I was thirsty most of the time...and always sunburned. Thank god they finally put in some shade screens. Most guests are nice and fun to deal with. I like work...

Re: Gurnee - Pre-Opening

Yes, there were some very slow nights until GA caught on. Sometimes the Grand Music Hall would have like 25 people in the audience...all sitting towad the back. I remember Marriott Management being worried that theymight have made a very expensive mistake building the park. But soon the crowds came....
