Yes, all the cabins at the Gurnee park were scrapped between the 2004 and 2005 season, except for the 4 that the park had out during Fright Fest (the ones painted Green, that were over in Hometown Square).

Hopefully, they will at least keep those. Even if they use them the way they did, it at least allowed us to sit in them again.

Hi Steven,

What are the dimensions of the cabins? It has been mentioned by several people in this thread how large the cabins are, but to get a real idea of their size it would be nice to know their dimensions.

I have been scanning a few more photos, here is Skywhirl from 1987. Scan is not the best. I believe this photo was taken by my mom (it was her favorite ride).

I really miss Sky Whirl but I'd rather have Deja Vu.

Hey Steven. You have probably already seen this since you are also a regular on the Astroworld site. This was on E-bay. Didn't know if you had anymore room in your storage but I know how you love skyrides.

Nice ebay find, Thanks for the pointer. I wonder if this person has more than just the three pictured.

Figured sometime in the next decade Steven might have enough parts for his very own ride.

If I had the money I would like to buy the cabins. The only problem is storage and I don't feel like renting a shed.

I don't know about you, but there is also the problem of going down to Texas, picking them up, and then getting them home... sounds like a pain to me. but it would be cool to have them!

As long as I had money and a place to store the cabins I would do everything necessary to get the cabins home.

Wish Sky Whirl would come back

Ok, I know they scrapped it but I thought that Sky Whirl was a really great ride. I wish it would come back.

Does anyone think Intamin would ever make one of these again?...or something like it?
Or do you think they feel it was just a unpractical ride type... I think this had to be the mother of all family/Ferris wheel rides...
