Who remembers "It's a Magic World", the first non Bugs Bunny show to play at MGA's Theatre Royale?

Yes, it was an impressive magic show. I remember it quite well, since I was so disappointed that the Looney Tunes were not there anymore...but there was some kind of small show in the Snowshoe Saloon featuring Foghorn Leghorn that year.

The Bugs Bunny show that year was moved to the front of the Pavillion in County Fair. "Bugs Bunny's County Jamboree". It was outdoors.

ewilson, perhaps that is true for the Santa Clara park, but as for Gurnee, we never had the Country Jamboree show.

Ahhhh, the memories!

Yep, I certainly remember "It's A Magic World!" - Hehehehehe!

That's not fair though, I was the magician in the show it's first year in Santa Clara. Unfortunately, I couldn’t Make it to Gurnee because I opened our casino show in Lake Tahoe the next year. (And working ever-since! – What a blessed life!)

I DO remember that 1982' was the ONLY season that was a "Year Round" season... and our show worked, NO KIDDING, 365 days in a ROW, with-out a day off! (Or at-least I did… we had some alternates through out for most of the cast)

Honestly, It was my MOST favorite performing memory and year EVER!

Imagine the bliss of being able to just out n' out perform with out having to tour, travel, set and strike like some of our buss and truck tours across the US and abroad (Forget international travel hassles! - Hehehehe!)

All I had to do was; do what we LOVE BEST! Get out there and have a blast performing for our audiences! - Woo Hoo... performing heaven!

Will any of you be at the Reunion in July? (I'll be in Santa Clara)

I'll be there with Video, Pictures and a Scrap Book loaded with MGA memories to share!

Thanks for the memories!

I am, as always, at your service and In HIS Service,
Dean Hankey

Yes, Gurnee DID indeed have a Country Music show in Theatre Royale back around 1983-1984. I think it only ran in the late afternoons and evenings.

The cast was INSANE and so much fun (even though I didn't care for country music).

The Magic Show's magician was Doug Anderson. He was a nutcase himself - and a good magician - who often was the life of afterwork parties.
