The 2009 season ends: what have you noticed?

Post by Demonlover13 »

For those of you that visited the gurnee park this year, what did you notice this year? Improvements, Things that really stood out to you, etc.
I need a great day this year, or 2, or 30!

Six Flags really needs to scrape and paint. read some on the online reviews of the park..most mention the dowdy condition of the park. The Marriott structures are 30 years old...some look terrible...dirty too. Next time you are there...look up! The structures in home town square are a mess. Curtains rotting away in the windows. Rotting wood trim. It has been so long since fences have been painted that the paint has flaked off to bare wood. Take a look at the Eagle...paint peeling everywhere. Very sad since the park was designed to be so beautiful. Landscaping was really cut back in 2009. Many areas were just dirt beds. Lots of weeds overtaking the few flowers that were planted. Shrubs never trimmed...tree is poor shape. And that is the public area. Back stage is even worse with broken sidewalks. Fencing caving in. Broken light fixtures. Weeds...lots of weeds. Office looks they have not been cleaned in years. Break areas have broken tables

Sorry to be such a downer but Marriott kept everything clean...Six Flags only trys to maintain what the public will see.

Only the catwalks, rails, and handrails were painted, and that already is in rough condition. The white support structure is in desperate need of paint; lots of grease stains in the lift hill area, and bare wood will begin to rot and sag over time.

As for buildings; take a good look at Hometown Square, notably Trudy's and the Funnel Cake place. The peeling paint is hard to miss.
