Santa Clara 1990 album

Post by RLAiello »

I have uploaded a portion of the photos I took at the Santa Clara park in 1990 to one of the online photo albums. Right now I just have the entrance through Hometown Square uploaded, but I'm already at my quota! :( So enjoy for now, and I'll swap out some new photos soon.

Thanks for sharing Rick, Its seems funny to see Fred Flintstone in front of the Carousel (after gaving been so used to seeing Bugs Bunny for us SFGA folks). Also, I like seeing the Skyhawk photo, as there are not many pics of that ride around.

Great pictures! I liked the one of Skyhawk. Even though it broke down A LOT, I still really liked it and it brought back memories. It was also weird to see Triple Play without Vortex's turnaround next to it.

And do you happen to have pictures of Skyhawk in action?

As a matter of fact, I do have a pic of Skyhawk in action. :) I just couldn't post it because I met my limit. Here it is:

That's it. It spun around, went up the pole, and then you could control the "pods" to shoot out if you wanted.

Incidentally, when I put the scrapbook together with all these pictures all those years ago, I wrote "Skyhawk spins. (Looked stupid.)" for this picture. I guess I wasn't all that impressed. :)

Thanks a lot. I really miss that ride. :( I remember when I first went on it with my cousin, I was scared to death when she would control the "pod" to make it go upside-down. And then right when I started getting into roller coasters and rides, they took it out.

I remember a Yellow-tagger who worked the "ChickenHawk."
The ride came down & didn't stop spinning, so he tried to physically stop it.
We nicknamed him "Skid" after that...

Perhaps there's a reason to not have 15 year-old kids working rides?
