new name for the Santa Clara park

Post by steven »

If their web site today is any indication, the Santa Clara park will transition to a new name: simply "Great America". As many of you already know, today Cedar Fair completed its acquisition of the Paramount Parks:

Cedar Fair press release.

I'm optimistic that the park now has a brighter future under the new ownership.

Looks like Orbit might have a chance of survival now...

I completely agree with you Steven. I, too, am very optimistic for the revival of Great America in Santa Clara under Cedar Fair. I hope they consider bringing back the Great America ambience that was lost under Paramount's ownership.

I wonder if they'll keep Boomerang Bay's name the same. California doesn't need another "Soak City."

I actually hope they keep bomarang bay but rename it Luau island or something in keeping with the American theme.

^Boomerang Bay is not an American themed water park. It's an Australian themed water park. The only part of the name they would have to drop from the water park is the "Crocodile Dundee" part. The rest of the name (Boomerang Bay Beach Club) could stay because it's not affiliated with Paramount.

I'm aware its an australian themed area. My point was to keep it a water park but instead of the australian theme they should transition it to a Hawaiian theme since Hawaii is part of the US. Thats all. I was there the other day with my kids and had a great time.

I think the Australian theme is cute, but it could go Hawaiian.

Yes! I'm glad they are restoring the original name. out here it's nice to have simply "Geauga Lake" again.

Now how about the original font..... 8)

Not so fast there!

From their page
Will Cedar Fair keep the Nickelodeon and Paramount theming throughout the acquired parks?
The transaction includes the licensing agreements with Nickelodeon and Paramount. The Nickelodeon licensing agreement expires within four years and the Paramount agreement expires within ten years, subject to certain early termination rights. We have not made decisions about how best to utilize the rights under the license agreements going forward.
