Plaque in front of reflecting pool

Yeah. I started in 1988 as well, and I don't remember seeing anything like that at the front of the park. My guess is that it was removed in 1983 or 1984.

That was put in about the late 90s or so.

I have a closeup of it somewhere and yes it was put in somewhere between 1991 and 1998 because it has the Time-Warner Six Flags logo on it.

If I remember correctly, and I am probably not, Santa Clara had a plaque with the KECO mission statement on it during its' days.

Does anyone have the text of it?

I think the KECO mission statement included something like:

To make people happy by providing fun and excitement and memorable experiences, and to take them away from their day to day world.

...or something like that.
