I was wondering when the SC Demon got its track painted black with red rails? Was it originally like that when it openned or was it like the Gurnee Demon, all black, and then later the rails were painted red?

Marriott didn't take it down... that all happened after Marriott sold the parks. SC still had most of the original Demon theming intact when I visited in 1990. Gurnee lost a lot of it after Six Flags took over. But it IS nice to see them bring as much of it back as they can for Fright Fest. Way to go SFGAm for that!

The Gurnee rocks were different from the SC rocks. The Gurnee rocks look more like sandstone, while the SC rocks look more like lava rocks or something. Probably more accurate to the areas they were in. But Gurnee still has all of their rocks (I sense a joke here somewhere)...
I was looking at the Demon commercial, AGAIN (as usual, lol) and I was wondering, why do you think they didn't have red water coming out of the waterfall?
