From my archives. The park sent me this. Notice, the turnaround helix is not built yet.

Happy to share with everyone.
I noticed my Eagle pic matched one you had in your gallery, Rick. I wish I had known the park had more of these back in the day -- I'd have asked them for a full set. Unfortunately, this is the only construction photo they sent me at the time. It's too bad these weren't available in full color, but like I said, they were intended for reproduction in newspapers. Mine is a full 8x10 glossy, which is why the scan is good.
I'll scan in some more pics in the coming days. Kinda fun going back through the things MGA sent me.
I've made a photo gallery here on the site and have also placed these pics there too.
Pretty funny looking at these today -- especially the text at the bottom, which was clearly done with a typerwriter.

RandyV,
I went through my pictures and found one that shows close to the exact spot but 18 and 1/2 years later. My picture was taken on April 26, 1999.
Lot changes in 18 years!

From what I remember, they were a form of breaks that used to be in use at the top of the drop. I believe they were only in use when the ride ran 3 trains per side.jonrev wrote:What are those rusty brackets for in the picture above?
I know that when the lift hill was re-tracked on the Blue side this past season, they took them off, and did not put them back. My guess is the same will happen when the red side has its lift hill retracked.
