Tidal Wave Question

Post by RandyV »

More curiosity than anything ... did the Santa Clara Tidal Wave have the same lighting effects along the track as Gurnee?

If memory is right, when the train launched, a series of sequenced blue lights went off along the "wave" graphics next to the track, around the loop itself and up the far side of the track. When the train started its return run, the lights changed to white.

I always thought that was a cool effect ...

Yes, it did. Lighting sequence was the same. The lights also scrolled in the direction the train was going.

I can't believe PGA got rid of it. That ride and the Sky Whirl were the trademarks of the park, IMO.

Another Question, How long did the waves stick around? (in SC) Were they still there when the theater was built? Does anyone have a picture of the SC Tidal Wave in the late 90s before it was "rethemed"?
The rides are GREAT, the shows are GREAT, the fun is GREAT, at Marriott's Great America! REMEMBER Marriott's GREAT AMERICA, REMEMBER Marriott's GREAT AMERICA!
